Bancroft Press - Publisher of the SmallTown Mystery Series
Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Bancroft Press is an independent, privately-owned, general interest trade book publisher that seeks to produce high quality works of fiction and nonfiction. By conscious choice, our writers have been, are, and will continue to be "in-the-trenches" journalists and other professionals -- authorities who know and present their stories and subjects better than anyone in the country.
Established in1995, Bancroft Press, a general interest trade publisher operating under the slogan “books that enlighten,” has published 15 books, from a TV thriller, a Hollywood novel, young adult fiction, and women’s fiction, on the fiction side, to non-fiction books ranging from humor, health, and cultural criticism, to history, business, art, and personal investment.
It has received special recognition from Publishers Weekly, which calls Bancroft “small but enterprising,” plaudits from syndicated columnist Liz Smith, who calls Bancroft “up and coming,” and a special honor from book publishing guru John Kremer (editor, among other things, of Book Marketing Update), who in 1998 designated Bancroft "one of the top 101 independent book publishers in the U.S." based on design, content, selection, marketing, volume, and sales. Three of Bancroft’s 15 books have been sold to paperback houses, four to book clubs, two to the movies, and two to foreign publishers.
